DIY : cut paper candle holders

We found this wonderfully simple idea on the 'how about orange?' blog, found here.

  • Simply find an old glass cup, jam jar, or similar vessel (the charity shops are always filled with glasswear that is needing a new home).
  • Measure a piece of paper to the height and width of the jar.
  • Cut semi circles using a scalpel in a pattern (although any shape, any pattern works - get creative!), then tape round the jar.
How Easy? Pop in a tea light and you have a beautiful candle holder that makes wonderful shadows - perfect for early spring evenings when trying to hold onto the light for those pitchers of Pimms and tasty BBQ's!

We're thinking forest silhouettes and woodland animals for our Light Night exhibition!
